Picture this..... You are a diver known for your skills, and you are standing on the edge, ready to jump but you just can't make your feet leave the ground. Those around you are watching in anticipation but you are stuck. What if you fail? What if you make a mistake? What will people think? You dive everyday. EVERY SINGLE DAY you train for this. You show up, you do what you need to do and the job is done. What you do is part of you. It's woven into your very being! You know in your heart that this is your calling and you know your stuff, and also, nothing changes if NOTHING CHANGES, but those pesky feet just won't leave the ground!

Well, today you are diving and there is an audience. You are diving in a public arena where everyone can see you and that's scary because it is a place where you feel like it matters more. Not just to you, but to those around you. It matter to those cheering you on from the sidelines. It matters to all those who dive next, and those diving next as well as to those thinking about diving too. So, you take a deep breath and you have a creeping thought of "what if I just choose not to dive?" And then you realise, that actively choosing inaction is still choosing, and that by consequence makes it an action. Inaction and action both have consequences. And with that thought, suddenly the step is easier to take, and so you take a deep breath and compose yourself, and you launch yourself with all your might......

“There is freedom waiting for you,

On the breezes of the sky,

And you ask "What if I fall?"

Oh but my darling,

What if you fly?”

Erin Hanson

Motivational quote that reads Take a deep breath. You've got this! Shows a cartoon lady diving from a diving board
Take a deep breath. You've got this!

Well, this metaphorical story draws a parallel between me and my website. I've been working on it for a quite a while now in the background, but just not sharing what I do digitally. It has been nearly ready to launch for months and I've stalled it because I just couldn't make my feet leave the ground! So, if you are reading this it's because I've faced my fears and leaned into the discomfort!

"Feel the fear and do it anyway"........ they say!

I think there is some wisdom in that! And if this journey of being a parent carer has taught me anything it's that there is an incredible strength in vulnerability. And the growth and the magic happens in the areas of discomfort.

So, welcome to my blog. Here I will be sharing my journey, thoughts, hopes and ideas and things I have learned along the way. I anticipate it will mostly be around my journey navigating the world as a parent carer advocating for change, rooted in human rights and equality and inclusion with the odd pivot here and there developing more paths of potential.
